VINCI ST. MODWEN HANDS OVER 32 ACRES OF NEW PARKLAND TO THE PUBLIC AT ST. ANDREW’S PARK, UXBRIDGE

Development partners, VINCI and St. Modwen (VSM), have formally handed over to Hillingdon Borough Council a 32-acre park at the heart of the 1,300-home new community they are developing at St. Andrew’s Park.

The park is believed to be the largest new public green space in Greater London since the Olympic Park.

The parkland at St. Andrew’s Park, the former RAF Uxbridge site, runs along the banks of the River Pinn and has not previously been open to the public. VSM is handing the 32 acres over for community use as part of its regeneration of the site.

VINCI St. Modwen has transformed the parkland right next to Uxbridge town centre with new landscaping and by:

• creating over 150,000 sq ft of new wild flower areas
• planting 167 new trees
• planting over 3,000 new shrubs and herbaceous plants
• providing 60 new bird boxes, bat boxes and log piles to provide new habitats for wildlife
• creating 38,000 sq ft of new trails winding around the park and woodlands
• creating 7,500 sq ft on new sports pitches
• providing a children’s play area

Tim Seddon, Property Director – South East at St. Modwen, said: “This is a milestone in the project as, in addition to the 1,300 much needed homes and new jobs we are delivering, we have transformed this parkland right at the heart of Uxbridge and are now pleased to pass it to the community as a whole to enjoy.”

Since the closure of RAF Uxbridge by the Ministry of Defence in 2010, St. Andrew’s Park has entered a new public phase in its history and 350 homes have already been sold; St. Modwen Homes are currently delivering 140 further homes; and 240 private rental apartments will complete around end of this year. A 720 pupil primary school has also been delivered.
